Upon arrival in Zurich, Switzerland meet your Tour Manager. Travel to Lucerne, situated in the geographical heart of Switzerland and poetically described by Alexandre Dumas as “a pearl in the world’s most beautiful oyster”. This evening enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travelers.

Lucerne / To Wengen
Lucerne offers a unique setting where medieval architecture meets a vibrant cultural scene. This morning, embark on a Lucerne Walking Tour. See the Chapel Bridge, Lion Monument, Old Town, and Lake Lucerne. Then, drive up into the massive Swiss Alps. The scenery is increasingly spectacular as you arrive in Lauterbrunnen, with its towering cliffs. Travel by Cog Railway up to the enchanting alpine village of Wengen for 5 nights (altitude 4,180’). Enjoy an included dinner this evening.

Lauterbrunnen Valley
Board the Cog Railway for an excursion to the glacier-carved Lauterbrunnen Valley and take a cable car up to Gimmelwald, a small traffic free village. Continue to Murren for free time in this car-free village noted for hiking paths, bell-ringing cows, waterfalls and wildflowers. Ride the Funicular up to Allmendhubel (altitude 6,200’) for the view, or take the Schilthorn Cable Car up to Piz Gloria (altitude 9,700’), the setting used in the 1969 James Bond movie On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Return to Wengen for an included dinner.

Jungfraujoch / Grindelwald
Free morning or optional rail up to the Jungfraujoch Mountain at 11,133 feet. (Optional due to high altitude.) This afternoon, we will all go via Cog Railway to Grindelwald for exploring or shopping. Enjoy Europe’s longest Cable Car as you glide over the tops of Swiss Chalets and pastoral scenery (altitude 7,600’). Then, return to Wengen via Zweilutschinen.

Schwarzwald / Aare Gorge
Travel by Cog Train along the sheer walls of the Swiss Alps to the village of Grindelwald. Then travel by PostBus though the most remote portions of Switzerland for exploration of the Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge. You then descend out of the mountains to the Aare River Gorge, where the river cuts through the mountain in a spectacular 600 foot deep gorge. After free time in Meiringen, take the Panoramic Express Train to Interlaken, along Lake Brienz, and then Cog Rail to Wengen. Enjoy another included dinner. 

Free Time / Zermatt Optional
Enjoy the day at leisure in Wengen to shop, hike and explore on your own or maybe join our optional excursion to Zermatt.  Enjoy the amazing Alpine scenery as you travel by motorcoach to the charming car-free village of Zermatt situated near the base of the Matterhorn. Enjoy a brief orientation walk of the village before having time to explore, hike, shop and dine on your own.  If you choose, and the weather is good, ride the cogwheel train up to the Gornergrat Summit (altitude 10,134’) for stunning views of the Matterhorn.  After an amazing day in one of the world’s most famous ski villages head back to Wengen.

Bern / Zurich
This morning descend on the now familiar Cog Railway and board your motorcoach for the first time in days. Travel to Bern, the beautiful capital city of Switzerland featuring cobblestone streets under medieval arches making it one of Europe’s most picturesque cities and registered as a UNESCO historic site. See the Rose Garden, one of the most beautiful parks in Bern offering an unrivaled view over the rooftops of the historic Old Town. Also see the impressive Zytglogge (Glockenspiel), a landmark medieval tower built in the early 13th century, it has served the city as guard  tower, prison, and clock tower. Continue to Zurich and visit the Old Town and the upscale shopping district, the Bahnhofstrasse. Later, check in to your hotel for your final night. This evening join your fellow travelers for a Farewell Dinner.
